With continued low temperatures and additional snow overnight, many of our roads, parking lots, and walkways remain icy and unsafe. For everyone’s safety, Monday, February 2, will be NTI Day #5. Teachers will be communicating expectations and will be available throughout the day on Monday to provide support.
We understand that some of our families are just now getting power restored. Please know that when we return to school, time and support will be provided for any students who were unable to complete NTI work due to weather-related impacts.
Thank you for your continued flexibility and support as we work through these winter conditions. Please take care, stay safe, and reach out to your school if you have any questions or need assistance.
We truly appreciate our families.
Amy Irwin
Superintendent

We know this week has been a lot, and we truly appreciate your patience as our community continues to deal with winter weather, icy conditions, and power outages in some areas.
Friday, January 30, will be NTI Day #4 and is intended to be a time for students to check in with teachers, ask questions, and catch up on previously assigned work. Teachers will be available to support students, and new assignments will be limited.
We understand that families are navigating different challenges right now. When we are able to return to school, our staff will work with students to make sure they have the time and support they need to complete any work affected by the weather.
Changes in routine and increased time online can be challenging for students. We encourage families to check in often with their children, monitor online activity, and promote kindness and safety online. School counselors are available if your child needs additional support.
Thank you for taking care of one another and for your continued support of Barren County Schools. Please continue to check the BC Schools app and our official communication channels for updates. Stay safe!

Amy Irwin, Superintendent

As winter weather continues to impact our community, including hazardous travel conditions, extreme cold temperatures, and ongoing power outages in some areas, Wednesday, January 28, and Thursday, January 29, will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days. Teachers will communicate expectations for NTI work and will be available to support students as needed.
We know this has been a challenging time, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these conditions together. We recognize that power-outages and other weather-related disruptions continue to impact some households. Please know that schools will work with students to provide flexibility and time to complete assignments when we are able to return to in-person learning.
We will continue to closely monitor conditions as we determine plans for the days ahead. As always, safety remains our top priority, and we thank families for their cooperation, flexibility, and understanding during this extended period of severe weather.
Please continue to monitor the BC Schools app and official district communication channels for updates.

Due to ongoing winter weather and continuing severe weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service, there will be no school tomorrow, January 26. This will be a traditional snow day.
Tuesday, January 27, will be a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day. Teachers will communicate expectations for any NTI work and will be available to assist students as needed.
We understand that some families may be experiencing power outages or other weather-related challenges. Please know that schools will work with families to ensure students have time to complete any missed assignments once we are able to return to school.
We will continue to closely monitor and assess weather conditions as we determine plans for the remainder of the week. As always, safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate these conditions together.
Please continue to monitor the BC Schools app and official communication channels for updates.

On Wednesday, the Courageous Cup staff showed our community what it truly means to become life-ready. During Education Day, they served coffee and slushies to members of The Leadership Team of Barren County Chamber of Commerce. They demonstrated initiative and skill & knowledge mastery, growing through real-world experiences that build confidence and prepare our students for success beyond the classroom.
