At the February Board meeting, Barren County Schools recognized a generous donation from the Temple Hill-Eastern Sports League to dedicate a dugout at the Barren County High School baseball field in memory of Carson Hernandez (2008–2023) through the BC Leave a Legacy Program.

Carson’s love of baseball made the dugout a fitting tribute. This space will continue to serve BC student-athletes and stand as a reflection of the impact he had on those around him. We appreciate the Hernandez family and league representatives who joined us for the recognition.

Barren County Schools is proud to support the mission of BC Reads & Feeds as we work together to fight hunger and support students in our community. Last year alone, this effort helped provide more than 448,000 summer meals, served over 3,500 Big Red Weekend Bags, and placed 3,000+ books in the hands of children — all made possible through volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.

We invite families, staff, and community members to join the Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event on Saturday, May 9 at 8:00 AM. Registration begins at 7:30 AM on the Town Square, with the walk starting at the Veterans Memorial Wall and ending at First Christian Church.

Scan the QR code or click the link below to register and be part of the impact. Every step helps raise awareness and support students who depend on school meals and literacy resources throughout the year. Together, we can continue making a difference for Barren County children.

Honk honk! The Tiny Trojan Learning Bus is rolling in February. If your child is ages 2 to 5 and not yet in preschool, come jump in for fun, exploration, and early learning. Through play, one on one instruction, and hands on activities, little learners build the school readiness skills that help them feel confident and excited about the classroom. We cannot wait to welcome your future Trojan and learn right alongside them. We hope to see you at one of our stops this month!
