Dear BC Families,
We don’t typically send messages to announce a regular school day. However, after an extended stretch of weather-related schedule changes, we wanted to provide clarity for families.
Barren County Schools will be in session on Thursday, February 5th. We are planning for a regular school day and look forward to welcoming students and staff back to our classrooms. We know the past several days have required a great deal of adjustment, and we appreciate the continued support and cooperation of our families and staff throughout this period. Please allow a little extra time for travel.
Thank you for staying connected, and we look forward to seeing our students back at school.
In Service,
Amy Irwin, Superintendent

Wednesday, February 4, will be NTI Day 6 for Barren County Schools.
These photos were taken late this afternoon, showing current conditions on some of our bus routes. While some roads have begun to thaw, there are still backroads across the county that remain unsafe for bus travel, particularly bus turn-arounds, and temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in the early morning hours.
Teachers will communicate expectations for the day directly with students and families. Please continue to check your email and the BC Schools app for updates and information.
Thank you for the continued care and cooperation shown by our community as we work through these winter conditions. We truly hope to be back in school later this week.

Amy Irwin, Superintendent

Community Members,
As we prepare for tonight’s ballgames, we want to share a few important updates.
Despite our efforts to clear the high school campus, there is still some snow and ice present in certain places.
We encourage fans to tune in to BC Live on YouTube to support our student-athletes. Watching online allows everyone to enjoy the game while avoiding difficult travel and campus conditions and will allow the limited parking to be available for our players and their families. The link to view is www.youtube.com/@BCHSLive/streams.
If you choose to attend in person, please plan ahead and use extra caution when traveling and while on campus.
Parking and entry information:
-Limited parking is available in the front lot only.
-The access road and roads leading to the rear of the school will be closed and blocked.
-Please use the cleared entry/sidewalk areas only. Caution tape will indicate the cleared versus not cleared areas.
-The ticket window will be open at the standard location.
-The “passgate” has been moved to the front sidewalk entrance beside the Trojan locker room. The standard passage entrance will be locked.
We appreciate the continued support of our students and thank our community for helping us prioritize safety.
Go Trojans and Trojanettes!

Due to winter weather conditions, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, will be a traditional snow day for Barren County Schools. Many roadways across our district remain snow- and ice-covered, creating hazardous travel conditions.
There will be no NTI work assigned. After several challenging days, we feel it's in the best interest of our students to pause and reset.
Please stay safe and warm. We appreciate your continued support and flexibility during this winter weather season.

With continued low temperatures and additional snow overnight, many of our roads, parking lots, and walkways remain icy and unsafe. For everyone’s safety, Monday, February 2, will be NTI Day #5. Teachers will be communicating expectations and will be available throughout the day on Monday to provide support.
We understand that some of our families are just now getting power restored. Please know that when we return to school, time and support will be provided for any students who were unable to complete NTI work due to weather-related impacts.
Thank you for your continued flexibility and support as we work through these winter conditions. Please take care, stay safe, and reach out to your school if you have any questions or need assistance.
We truly appreciate our families.
