In honor of Black History Month, we recognize Carl Brashear, the first African-American master diver in the US Navy. Brashear was born in Tonneyville, Kentucky, in 1931 to a sharecropper family and raised in Sonora, Kentucky. Against all odds--facing racism, adversity, and the loss of his leg--Brashear refused to let anything stand in his way. His life is a powerful lesson in perseverance. #WeareBC #BlackHistoryMonth
