SBDM

Austin Tracy Stakeholders,

It's time to begin taking nominations for Parent Representatives for our school's Site Based Decision Making Council (SBDM).  Being a member of our school's SBDM is extremely important, because it requires a collaborative approach to ensure we are meeting the needs of all students!  The result is increased student achievement, and living up to our school's mission!  Here are a few of the key characteristics of why our SBDM is important to our school:

  1. Empowerment of Stakeholders: SBDMs empower teachers, parents, and community members to have a voice in decision-making processes, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability.

  2. Tailored Solutions: Councils allow for decisions that reflect the unique needs and circumstances of the specific school community, rather than imposing one-size-fits-all solutions from higher authorities.

  3. Enhanced Collaboration: By bringing together diverse stakeholders, SBDMs promote collaboration and open communication, leading to better understanding and trust among teachers, parents, and administrators.

  4. Increased Responsiveness: SBDMs can respond more quickly to emerging challenges and opportunities within the school, facilitating timely and effective changes.

  5. Focus on Student Achievement: Councils prioritize student needs and outcomes, ensuring that decisions are made with the primary goal of enhancing educational quality and student success.

  6. Professional Development: Participating in decision-making councils can provide valuable professional development opportunities for teachers and staff, enhancing their skills in leadership and collaboration.

  7. Budget Management: SBDMs have a role in budget allocation, ensuring that resources are directed toward initiatives that directly benefit students and align with the school's goals.

  8. Community Involvement: Engaging parents and community members fosters a stronger school-community partnership, which can lead to increased support for school initiatives and programs.

The parent nomination window will be open from April 21st through May 2nd.  Elections will be held from May 5th through May 9th via paper ballot.  If you would like to nominate a parent, or yourself, please complete the ATE SBDM Parent Nomination Form and submit it to the front office by 3 pm on May 2nd.  If you have questions about the roles and responsibilities of our school's SBDM, please reach out to Mr. Johnson at 270-646-2236.
