Welcome to the Team Fifth Grade website! Your one-stop shop for all things Fifth Grade!  Our Fifth Grade Team includes Mrs. Sydney Garrett, Ms. Mackenzie Birkey, & Ms. Terri Robertson.  We have combined our pages in hopes of making things easier for you!  We are beyond excited about the upcoming year, and look forward to making the 2021-2022 school year the best one yet!

Hello, all! My name is Mackenzie Birkey. I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade this year at North Jackson. This is my third year at NJE, and I am thrilled to be a part of such a welcoming school community.

I am originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I came to Western Kentucky University in 2014 to compete for their speech and debate team, and have stayed in Kentucky ever since! I graduated from WKU in December of 2018 with my bachelor's in Elementary Education. Beyond teaching, I am a very musical person, and love playing my piano both in and out of my classroom.

I can't wait for another amazing year in fifth grade!

Hello!!! I am so excited to rejoin the 5th grade team this year for my seventh year at NJE. I am very blessed to be working in such an awesome school where we are one big family. 

I graduated from WKU with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I also have my master's degree in Teacher Leadership from University of the Cumberlands!

In my free time I love to bake, spend time with friends and family, and my puppies!

Mrs. Garrett

      Hello!! My name is Sydney Beth Garrett. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade here at North Jackson! This will make my sixth year here at NJE! This school year I will be teaching 5th grade reading and writing. I am so excited for this 2021-2022 school year! I already know this is going to be a spectacular year!!

Just a little bit about myself:

I am a proud Barren County Alumni. I attended Barren County schools all throughout elementary, and I graduated from BCHS in 2012. I went on to attend college at Western Kentucky University-Glasgow, where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2016.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, and spending time outside. My husband, Jesse, and I have been married for a little over five years and have a sweet baby boy, Nolan!  We also have a sweet, speckled fur baby named Bo. 

I have dreamed of teaching for as long as I can remember! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of NJE!
