There have been too many wonderful things that have happened to the students in Barren County to mention, but everyone will agree that our students are OUTSTANDING at everything they do! As we close this school year, we wish nothing but the best for the Class of 2013 and we look forward to another successful year. We are BC!

BCHS TROJANETTE SOFTBALL CAMP

BCHS Trojanette Softball Camp will be held on July 17, 18, 19, 2013 at the Barren County High School softball field. Any girl in grades 1-8 are welcome to attend. The cost is $30. For more information contact coach Kevin Jackson at Barren County High School.

SUMMER CAMPS: BARREN SCHOOLS 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS

Barren County Schools 21st Century Commnity Learning Centers presents Summer Scholars Opportunities, which include summer camps for students of all ages. We are providing camps at every Barren County School from May through August. In addition Barren County School District is also offering childcare services at Red Cross Elementary from May 23rd through July 26th, 2013. Click learn more for detalis.

BCMS DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS
Open to any Barren County 6th or 7th grade student interested in trying out for the 2013-2014 Barren County Middle School Dance Team. Tryouts will be held Friday May 3, 2013 at the Barren County High School Gymnasium.

LEADERS OF THE FUTURE PROGRAM
Leaders of the Future applications are now available in the front office and online. The Leaders of the Future Program is an excellent opportunity for aspiring young leaders in our community. The program was established to help students understand the ties existing between education, careers and the community. Students selected for the Leadership class will take part in monthly sessions including the topics of agriculture, quality of life, health care, ecomonic development, law & justice, media and marketing. Applications are due by Wednesday, May 15th to Mrs. Irwin's office.

K-PREP ASSESSMENT
Testing will begin promptly at 8:00a.m. each day and will conclude by 11:00a.m., with the exception of Thursday, May 2nd. On Thursday, students will also be testing in the afternoon. Please do not schedule any appointments during the testing dates/times. We appreciate your assistance with this!
Testing Reminders: Students should -
1. Get plenty of rest.
2. Eat a good breakfast.
3. Be on time to school every day. Testing will begin prompty at 8:00.
4. Schedule appointments after testing concludes.
5. Put forth his/her best effort on every part of the test.
6. No electronic devices of any kind are allowed during the testing sessions such as cell phones, Kindles, Nooks, Ipads, etc. per state regulation. Please remind your child that if they bring them, they need to remember to store them in their locker as always.

Barren County High School, May 30, 2013, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
TeachMeet is a unique experience often referred to as an “Unconference” where attendees rotate between 20 minute info sessions focusing on educational technology.
Topics such as; Web 2.0 tools, learning management systems,wikis, blogs, social networks, Google tools, Lync, Skype, and much more.
Door prizes and goodies will be given away at the SmackDown closing session.
Registration and breakfast begin at 8:00 am.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS: STUDENTS VISIT BRAWA
Barren County Middle School students Sierra Chapman, Saige Nuckols, and Logan Toohey visited BRAWA during Random Acts of Kindness Week. Students are shown delivering their “Basket of Kindness” which was filled with items for our furry friends at the shelter. Kindness…pass it on!

The District KY Derby Spelling Bee was held Friday, February 15th, at the Barren County Cooperative Extension Service.
The 2013 Champion who has the opportunity to compete in the State KY Derby Spelling Bee in May is Micah Morgan of Barren County Middle School.
Madison High of Hiseville Elementary was runner-up.

FEA, Future Educators of America, visited Red Cross Elementary where they donated over 50 books from BCMS students. Students were given the opportunity to read aloud to a few classrooms to get a first hand experience of educating inside a classroom setting.

Baseball & Softball Season Tickets will be sold today(3/4/13) and Wednesday (3/6/13) at BCHS from 8 am- 3 pm and on Friday from 7:30-11:30.
Baseball and Softball regular season tickets - $35 each
Baseball and Softball chair back seats - $45 each
Grandparents will sign in at gate to get in free. If they want chair back seats, they wiill be $20 each.
Tickets will also be sold at the first couple of games.
