There have been too many wonderful things that have happened to the students in Barren County to mention, but everyone will agree that our students are OUTSTANDING at everything they do!  As we close this school year, we wish nothing but the best for the Class of 2013 and we look forward to another successful year.  We are BC!

This schedule is for all elementaries-

All elementary schools will dismiss on the normal schedule on Thursday. 

Friday the elementary schools will dismiss at 10:30 am.

Barren County High School, May 30, 2013, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
TeachMeet is a unique experience often referred to as an “Unconference” where attendees rotate between 20 minute info sessions focusing on educational technology. 
Topics such as; Web 2.0 tools, learning management systems,wikis, blogs, social networks, Google tools, Lync, Skype, and much  more. 

Door prizes and goodies will be given away at the SmackDown closing session.
Registration and breakfast begin at 8:00 am.

BCHS BETA CLUB SPONSORS TWO BEAUTY PAGEANTS

On Saturday, April 20th, the Barren County High School Senior Beta Club will sponsor a Pageant for young ladies aged zero months to 21 years. 

 

 

Later that evening, the Barren County High School Senior Beta Club will sponsor a “Womanless Beauty Pageant” to benefit Barren County Relay for Life.

Wednesday ( 2/27/13):  Tickets for the Boys Regional Semi- Finals will go on sale this morning from 10:30 am-3 pm.  Thursday sales will be 10 am- 1 pm, and on Friday tickets will be sold from 10 am- 3 pm.

Barren  will play Warren Central in the semi-finals at 7:30 Friday @ WKU.

American Farmers Grow Communities Grants Awarded to Southern Barren FRC and North Eastern FRC

DISTRICT SPELLING BEE

The District KY Derby Spelling Bee was held Friday, February 15th, at the Barren County Cooperative Extension Service.

 The 2013 Champion who has the opportunity to compete in the State KY Derby Spelling Bee in May is  Micah Morgan of Barren County Middle School.

Madison High of Hiseville Elementary was runner-up.

AUSTIN TRACY ELEMENTARY POWER RESTORED!

 

(8:45am, 2-1-2013) - Power has been restored at Austin Tracy Elementary and students will resume their regular schedule excluding preschool.

After an investigation into the bomb threats at Barren County Middle School,  Barren County High School and Temple Hill Elementary School, (5) students and (1) adult have been taken into custody in connection with the threats.  We would like to commend the Barren County Schools Administrative team, staff and students and especially members of the Barren County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.  After these matters have been addressed by the courts, Barren County Schools will pursue disciplinary action in accordance with the student code of conduct.

Calendars are now for sale for the 2013 Year---contact any BCHS cheerleader or the high school to purchase one. 

CHILI SUPPER

Barren County Baseball is hosting a Chili Supper on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 before the Logan County/Barren County Basketball game. We will serve from 5:00 to 7:00. The cost is $6.00. This includes a bowl of Wendy's Chili, dessert and a drink. You can purchase a ticket that night or purchase a ticket from a Barren County baseball player.

All Lunch Menus have been revised to reflect the correct school calendar.  There will be NO SCHOOL on December 20th.

WALLACE NAMED NEW ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR BARREN COUNTY SCHOOLS

Superintendent Matthews announced Mr. Mark Wallace as Assistant Superintendent at press conference on Feb 1st.

BCHS BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS ON SALE
Basketball season tickets will go on sale at meet The Trojans on Monday evening, November 12th. After that we will sell tickets at BCHS on Monday's and Wednesday's from 7:30 till 3:30 and on Friday's from 7:30 to 11:30. Tickets will be sold in The Trojan Sport Shop. Season tickets will be $45.00 each. Students passes will be $20.00.
Grandparents will again get into the ballgames free if you have a grandchild playing basketball. You will need to sign in at the ticket table at each ballgame you attend. The sign up sheet gets you into the game free but if you want a reserved seat it will be $25.00 per seat.

BARREN COUNTY STUDENTS GIVE TIME TO HELP FEED THE CHILDREN
Mr. Todd Steenbergen and Mrs. Jessica Jaggers organized the trip to Feed the Children Warehouse in Nashville, TN.  Participating students learned that they were not only helping children; they were supplying basic necessities to children and families.
