There have been too many wonderful things that have happened to the students in Barren County to mention, but everyone will agree that our students are OUTSTANDING at everything they do!  As we close this school year, we wish nothing but the best for the Class of 2013 and we look forward to another successful year.  We are BC!

Barren County Schools 21st Century Commnity Learning Centers presents Summer Scholars Opportunities, which include summer camps for students of all ages.  We are providing camps at every Barren County School from May through August.  In addition Barren County School District is also offering childcare services at Red Cross Elementary from May 23rd through July 26th, 2013.  Click learn more for detalis.

Eastern Elementary is, once again, bringing home the staff participation Traveling Trophy for Butterflies for Maddie!  With 12 staff members participating in the race, we had the best percentage of school staff participation!

Eastern Elementary Choir presents "Travelin' Through the Decades" on Tuesday, May 7 at 5:00 p.m.  Mark your calendar for a performance you are not going to want to miss!

Retired teachers from Eastern Elementary School were invited to come back to an Appreciation Breakfast to honor their years of service to the students of Eastern Elementary and the Barren County School System. Retired teachers were given a tour of the building and visited classrooms. Students were excited to see the former teachers visiting the school and presented them with notes and cards of appreciation. Attending the breakfast was (left to right) Teresa Wyatt, Fran Pickerel, Margie Read, Will Compton, Mary Eubank, Jo Perkins, and Gayle Steenbergen.

TeachMeet is a unique experience often referred to as an “Unconference” where attendees rotate between 20 minute info sessions focusing on educational technology. 
Topics such as; Web 2.0 tools, learning management systems,wikis, blogs, social networks, Google tools, Lync, Skype, and much  more. 

Door prizes and goodies will be given away at the SmackDown closing session.
Registration and breakfast begin at 8:00 am.

We are very proud of our Wildcats for their hard work and effort in preparing for Beta convention this year!  All this hard work paid off with much success: 

• First Place - Kosair's Decorated Wagon: This was a service project competition.  Our members raised $200+ to donate to Kosair's to recieve a Red Flyer Wagon. 

• Third Place - Spotlight Your Club completed by Haleigh Simmons, Maddie Murray, Taylor Davidson, and Breanna Childress, who will now be competing at the National Beta Competition on June 15th - 18th in Mobile, Alabama!
• Katie Karl made the Top Ten Speech Competition Semi-Finals out of 44 contestants

Students of the Month: These Wildcats were recognized during the month of February for the character trait: Honesty.
