On Saturday March 14th, the Barren County orchestra program was very well represented at KMEA's Solo and Ensemble festival. The festival was held at Moss Middle School in Bowling Green, KY. These students worked hard after school hours to prepare solo literature and small ensembles to perform for a judge and receive a rating of novice, apprentice, proficient, or distinguished. The judge was very complimentary of the kids' efforts and gave very specific and conducive feedback to each student as they performed. Overall, the middle school and high school combined received 3 distinguished plus ratings which are only rewarded for stellar performances. 19 distinguished ratings, 1 proficient plus, and 5 proficient ratings were received at this event.
