Hi!  My name is Shana McMurtrey and I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade at North Jackson Elementary! After almost 10 years in Kindergarten, I am excited about the challenge, but sure will miss my sweet Kindergarten kiddos!

The 2012-2013 school year will be my 12th year as a teacher.  I taught 2nd grade for one year and Kindergarten for 7 years at Red Cross Elementary and Kindergarten at North Jackson Elementary for 2 years!
I have degrees in English and Language Arts and Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Elementary Counseling.  I am also National Board Certified for children ages 3-8.
When I am not at school, you might find me reading a great book on my Nook, auditioning for plays at BarnLot Theather, listening to music, traveling somewhere new, working in my garden, volunteering at the animal shelter or spending time with my 4-legged friends at home..........3 cocker spaniels named Elliot, Allie, and Ella!!
