After an investigation into the bomb threats at Barren County Middle School,  Barren County High School and Temple Hill Elementary School, (5) students and (1) adult have been taken into custody in connection with the threats.  We would like to commend the Barren County Schools Administrative team, staff and students and especially members of the Barren County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.  After these matters have been addressed by the courts, Barren County Schools will pursue disciplinary action in accordance with the student code of conduct.

TEMPLE HILL EVACUATION

(12:25pm 1-30-13) UPDATE – As of this hour Temple Hill students are returning to the school.  The building has been thoroughly searched and nothing of suspicious nature was found.  We anticipate a normal release at the regularly scheduled time.  All afterschool activities will go on as scheduled. No other Barren County schools were affected by this threat.

Parent  pickup will continue at the football field. 

BCHS UPDATED--PICK UP INFO

All students will be released from the football field.  Car riders will be released from the gate at the entrance between the football field & the baseball field.  HS parents that pick up their child need to enter between the football field & the baseball field.  HS busses will pick up at the MS.  All BCHS & BCMS afternoon activities have been suspended.

Threat at BCHS - students being evacuated to the football field. Updates will be forth coming.   One Call has been initiated please be patient as it must reach 3,200 phone numbers.

UPDATE TO BCMS EVACUATION

As of 1pm, law enforcement officials have given the all clear and students have started to move back to Barren County Middle School. We will have a normal dismissal this afternoon. We appreciate the orderly cooperation of our students and faculty, along with the support of local law enforcement officials and Barren County High School personnel. This matter will be turned over to the proper authorities for further investigation.  Thank you.

BCMS EVACUATED

At approximately noon today a bomb threat to BCMS was discovered in the building.  This is an unsubstantiated threat.  As with any situation our student’s safety is always foremost.  All Students and Personnel have currently been evacuated to BCHS.  School and Law officials are onsite following all safety protocol.  We anticipate a subsequent move back to BCMS when all has been cleared.  We also, anticipate a normal afternoon release.  Please see the BC website for any further updates.

BARREN/GLASGOW BASKETBALL GAMES

The decision to play or cancel is under the control of Glasgow School System.  As of 3:00 pm Friday, all games are on for tonight.  Tune in to local radio for up to date information.

 

BARREN COUNTY STUDENTS EXCEL IN CONSERVATION CONTEST

Bob Blair, Athletic Director has stated that there has been no date set for the make up game between BCHS & Larue Co. that was scheduled for 1/15/13.

PUBLIC FORUM, BARREN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT
There will be a public forum held this Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 4:30 P.M. at the Barren County Board of Education.  This forum is open to the public to be able to discuss any questions or concerns regarding your child's school meals and menu options. Everyone is invited to attend.

RELAY FOR LIFE & DRAMA CLUB HOST DINNER AND THEATRE

Relay for Life will be hosting a Celebrity Chili Supper on Friday March 8th at 5:30 prior to BCHS Drama Club's production of Beauty and the Beast. Tickets for the chili supper are $5.00 and Theatre tickets are $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door. Beauty and the Beast will presented on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

On Saturday, April 20th, the Barren County High School Senior Beta Club will sponsor a Pageant for young ladies aged zero months to 21 years. 

 

 

Later that evening, the Barren County High School Senior Beta Club will sponsor a “Womanless Beauty Pageant” to benefit Barren County Relay for Life.

CHRIS MARTIN ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME
The Barren County Alumni Association will host The Chris Martin Alumni Games on January 19th, 2013 beginning at 6pm.
If you played basketball at BCHS...you are welcome to play in these games. If you choose not to play you are more than welcome to come out and watch, coach, or officiate.
Everyone is invited to watch our great athletes play. These games help in keeping our scholarships alive through Chris Martin. Chris was a dedicated Trojan basketball player and his life was taken at a young age. We will forever be grateful for his determination and attitude toward Barren County & basketball.
It is free to play in these games, donations are accepted to support our scholarship program. WE are also planning on having a silent auction. Two Barren County prints have been donated by Brad Groce, also a Barren County sweatshirt has been donated by The Trojan Sport Shop.

 Schools have been given the all clear following morning threat.

BCHS BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS ON SALE
Basketball season tickets will go on sale at meet The Trojans on Monday evening, November 12th. After that we will sell tickets at BCHS on Monday's and Wednesday's from 7:30 till 3:30 and on Friday's from 7:30 to 11:30. Tickets will be sold in The Trojan Sport Shop. Season tickets will be $45.00 each. Students passes will be $20.00.
Grandparents will again get into the ballgames free if you have a grandchild playing basketball. You will need to sign in at the ticket table at each ballgame you attend. The sign up sheet gets you into the game free but if you want a reserved seat it will be $25.00 per seat.

At the 2012 KY State Beta Convention, the BCHS club was awarded several honors. Brooke Simmons was elected KY Beta Vice-President, her campaign skit won 2nd place, group talent won 1st place,  the club banner won 2nd place, the scrapbook won 2nd place, and  the club placed 3rd in Sweepstakes.
NATIONAL FARM SAFETY WEEK KICK-OFF EVENT
 Barren County High School will be the site of the Official Farm Safety Week kick off event.  September 13, 2012 at BCHS Football Field from 1:30 - 3:00 pm.  Many state government officials and legislators will be attending to speak on behalf of the event.

BCHS STUDENTS WIN REGION 4 KY PROUD JUNIOR CHEF COOKING COMPETITION

Barren County High School Junior Chefs: Katrina Gold, Junita Grinter & Mackenzie Taylor recently placed at the Region 4 KY Proud Junior Chef Cooking Competition and will now be advancing to the state competition on August 18 at the KY State Fair.

SUMMER CAMPS: BARREN SCHOOLS 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS


Barren County Schools 21st Century Commnity Learning Centers presents Summer Scholars Opportunities, which include summer camps for students of all ages.  We are providing camps at every Barren County School from May through August.  In addition Barren County School District is also offering childcare services at Red Cross Elementary from May 23rd through July 26th, 2013.  Click learn more for detalis. 

JROTC NAMED GRAND CHAMPIONS!

On March 23, 2013, the Barren County JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps) traveled to Warren Central High School to compete in Color Guard, Unarmed drill and Individual Knockout. The Trojan Battalion was extremely successful in their second year of competition and came home with several trophies. The cadets placed first in Color Guard, first in Squad Drill and were named Grand Champions!

BARREN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS SWEEP DISTRICT ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS!!

North Jackson Elementary was the overall winner for the 35th district and Temple Hill Elementary  was the overall winner for the 36th district.  Every elementary school had students win and/or place in various categories.  Visit www.kaac.com for complete results.

BARREN SCHOOLS COMPETE AT STATE STLP CONFERENCE IN LEXINGTON

Congratulations to our State STLP competitors who achieved tremendous results March 28th in Lexington's Rupp Arena! Nearly 5,000 students representing 400 schools and 100 districts from across the state attended this year’s competition.  More than 45 categories were available, covering the arts; science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and marketable career skills.

Barren County Little League Basketball registration & open gym will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Red Cross Elementary gym from 8:30-9:15 am.

Mr. Todd Steenbergen and Mrs. Jessica Jaggers organized the trip to Feed the Children Warehouse in Nashville, TN.  Participating students learned that they were not only helping children; they were supplying basic necessities to children and families.

On April 4th the Barren County softball team visited the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort.  The team had a meet and greet with Governor and Mrs. Beshear as well as a tour of the Capitol and Governor's Mansion.

The Barren County High School JROTC Department hosted their 1st Annual Trojan Battalion Postal Air Rifle Match. Barren County High School, Allen County High School, Warren Central High School, and Warren East High School participated in the event.

There have been too many wonderful things that have happened to the students in Barren County to mention, but everyone will agree that our students are OUTSTANDING at everything they do!  As we close this school year, we wish nothing but the best for the Class of 2013 and we look forward to another successful year.  We are BC!

The Regional Science Fair was held in Bowling Green on Saturday, March 23, 2013.  Overall Winner of the Regional Science Fair and 1st place in their category were Eastern Elementary students, Taylor Hensley and Dulce Sanchez with "Child Resistant or Child Proof"

BCHS HONORED AT THE STATE FOREIGN LANGUAGE GALA & SHOWCASE

Students from Barren County High School participated in the State Foreign Language Gala and Showcase April 13th & 14th, 2013 at the University of Kentucky. 

TEMPLE HILL IS OVERALL WINNER OF THE REGIONAL GOVERNOR'S CUP ACADEMIC COMPETITION!

Temple Hill wins first and North Jackson finishes in second place in the regional academic competition that consisted of 18 teams.  Barren County placed five teams in the top ten with Hiseville finishing 6th, Austin Tracy 8th, and Red Cross 9th.

BCHS DANCE TEAM TAKES 1ST PLACE IN REGIONAL DANCE TEAM COMPETITION

The dance team competed at the 3rd and 4th Regional Dance Team Competition in Owensboro, KY where they placed 1st overall for the 4th Region.  The team will be competing at the Kentucky State Dance Team competition in Frankfort on Saturday February 23!

BCHS CHEERLEADERS PLACE AT THE UCA NATIONALS IN ORLANDO

Congratulations to the Barren County High School Cheerleaders on UCA Nationals in Orlando at the world's largest cheerleading competition. Barren County received 3rd place after making finals in the toughest division there--Small Coed.

BCHS GREENHOUSE SALES OPEN APRIL 9

BCHS Greenhouse Sales begin April 9th, from 7:30 - 4:30 daily. Greenhouse is located at the back of Barren County High School on Trojan Trail. For information call BCHS Ag Department at (270) 651 - 2627.

Our Ag Department greenhouse students and FFA members have grown another great crop of vegetable plants and annual bedding flowers. The Boston Ferns look great and are priced for another year at $15.00! We've also got a large variety of hanging baskets and bags filled with varieties of Wave Petunias and Impatiens. BCHS STUDENT TAKES FIRST PLACE IN STATE GOVERNOR'S CUP COMPETITION

Barren County High School student, Mattie Bruton, took first place on March 8th at the 2013 State Governor's Cup in English Composition.  Mattie is the first student from BCHS to ever win this award.  This has also been a successful year for many members of the BCHS Academic Team in Governor's Cup competition.  The team placed 12th in the state in the overall final standings.
