Parent and Student Portal App Problems Issues with New Apps

Districts, students, and parents are reporting an issue with the new Campus Student and Campus Parent apps. Upon opening their app, some students and parents are seeing a blank white screen or a white screen showing a “Connection Error” message.

Initial investigation points to intermittent connectivity issues when the system authenticates the user’s credentials. At no time is any data at risk of being compromised. We appreciate your patience as we further investigate to resolve this issue. Until this issue is resolved, students and parents experiencing this issue may access Campus Student or Campus Parent on their mobile device by using a web browser.

Non-credible Threat Being Investigated

BCHS school officials were notified late Sunday evening about a possible threat made by a student.  The Barren County Sheriff Department was immediately contacted.
The threat was determined not to be credible at this time. The matter is still under investigation by law enforcement and school administration.

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.   We will continue to be proactive and responsive to any concerns.

Friday, February 23rd School Safety Message from BCHS Principal Johnson

Mid - afternoon on Friday, school administration at BCHS and Officials with the Barren County Sherriff’s Department investigated a threat written on the bathroom wall.  It was determined that this was not a credible threat by law enforcement officials.  We continue to evaluate and investigate all information that we receive regarding school safety with the highest level of seriousness.  Anytime the investigation produces someone guilty of making threats,  law enforcement will pursue the maximum level of charges for these crimes.  We appreciate the continued support of our students and staff during these very stressful times.

Community Safety Survey

Barren County School District Students, Staff, Parents and Community Stakeholders -

Our hearts and thoughts continue to be with families, students, and staff who have been impacted by the recent school tragedies in Marshall County and Parkland, Florida.   Like all communities, we are concerned about threats in our community and our schools.  Our approach to school safety is centered around prevention and the efficiency of our response to an emergency situation.  The survey below is focused on additional preventative measures we are considering to implement this school year.  In response to hearing your ideas and thoughts, the Barren County School District is conducting a survey to engage the community stakeholders in dialogue about any additional safety measures or procedures that will make our students and staff feel more comfortable in our schools.  Thank you for lending your voice.  We appreciate your prayers and continued support as we strive to improve as a district.  The link below will take you to the survey.  The data will be immediately tabulated for our use.

Sincerely,  Bo Matthews

Lockdown Lifted

All schools are no longer on a soft lockdown status.  We do not have any information that leads us to believe that our students or staff are in danger.  Law enforcement is still working to locate a suspect in connection with the domestic tragedy that is being investigated in Allen County.  We will maintain a heightened level of awareness until the suspect is apprehended.  We appreciate your teamwork and support.

Special Message from Superintendent Bo Matthews

This is Superintendent Bo Matthews.  Like many of you, my heart aches for the losses at the high schools in Parkland, Florida and Marshall County.  When unspeakable tragic events like this happen, each of us feel heightened anxiety about the safety of students and staff in public schools.

Following incidents such as this, we find ourselves dealing with rumors, speculation, and concerns from multiple sources. If these types of messages have been communicated falsely, criminal charges can be filed.   We want to assure our students, parents, staff, and BC families that there are no creditable threats.

Additional law enforcement have been present at our schools today as a precaution. We continue to work closely with Barren County Sherriff’s Department and other local law enforcement to help reduce risk.

In addition to constant prayers, Barren County Schools will continually review and refine our safety procedures.
