GUMM NAMED OUTSTANDING LEADER

The Outstanding Leader Award recognizes and honors one Kentucky school leader who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing technology to improve education.  The selection criteria requires the award winner to have gone above and beyond his or her assigned duties which Steve has demonstrated again and again.  Steve’s work has had a significant positive impact on technology use in our educational process.  He works tirelessly to genuinely improve the quality of education in our district through the technologies we use.  The quality of education has been significantly advanced in Barren County as a result of Steve’s efforts.

As written in the nomination for the award, Steve’s peers think highly of him and his efforts.  According to Brent Norris with the Edmonson County Schools, “I have been a colleague of Steve’s since 2002 and have always found him helpful, knowledgeable and eager to assist.”   Dr. Benny Lile, Superintendent of the Metcalfe County Schools commented, “I had the opportunity to hire Steve into public education when I was Technology Coordinator for the Barren County Schools nearly 20 years ago.  I immediately recognized his passion for his work.  From the very beginning he was tireless in his effort to provide the classroom teacher with the tools and resources to be successful.”    One of his Barren County Technology staff co-workers, Cory Goode wrote, “Throughout his tenure with the Barren County Schools, Steve has always put students first.”

“Steve Gumm is an asset to Barren County School District, and we would like to thank him for his tireless efforts to make our district a place where students have access to the best technology available to better prepare themselves for the future. We congratulate Steve Gumm on being named KySTE Outstanding Leader for 2017,” remarked Barren County Schools’ Superintendent Bo Matthews.
